ethereum.org

Ethereum's home page and education hub. First full-time engineer, then team lead.

TL;DR

ethereum.org is Ethereum’s home page and education hub. I joined as its first full-time engineer in 2019 and led the team from 2021 to 2023. In those four years the site grew from a handful of pages to hundreds, in dozens of languages, with millions of visitors a month and thousands of contributors. My work spanned engineering, developer education, product direction, and building the team and community behind the site.

About ethereum.org

The site helps people understand Ethereum, use it, and build on it: explanations, guides, developer docs, and tutorials in one place, translated by volunteers around the world. The guiding idea was education as a public good. Content and code were open to contributions, and the site had to serve everyone from a newcomer choosing a wallet to a developer learning smart contracts to someone preparing to run a validator.

My role

Building the foundation. I joined the Ethereum Foundation in September 2019, when the rebooted site was a handful of pages. As its first full-time engineer I led development and was the first point of contact for open-source contributors, the job described in the EF’s hiring announcement.

Making development easier to learn. With the team, I built the Developer Portal, replacing a wall of links with a structured path through documentation, tutorials, and tools. We introduced it at ETHGlobal in 2020. By mid-2022, community contributions had grown the developer docs to nearly 100 pages.

Growing the team and community. From 2021 to 2023 I built and led the core team: setting priorities, publishing the quarterly roadmaps listed below, improving contributor paths, and helping the team explain complex technical changes to a global audience. Translators were a large part of that reach: the 2021 Translation Program update counted more than 2,000 contributors and 37 languages; the site is now in over 40.

In 2023 I left to lead MACI.
